Gary Neville has been slammed for cheering Manchester United’s goal against Liverpool whilst on commentary for Sky Sports.
Former United player Neville, along with ex Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher were on commentary duties for Sky Sports’s coverage of the game at Old Trafford.
When United took the lead through Jadon Sancho’s fine finish, Neville was heard cheering by viewers watching the match on TV.
Former Crystal Palace chairman, Simon Jordan was not a fan of Neville’s actions.

He said on talkSPORT: “Gary Neville, the mayor of Manchester aka the town crier will have a vantage point that sometimes is very insightful and we get to learn a lot.
“But with this situation I don’t think it’s a particularly good look or a professional look for a broadcaster giving us a description of a game that starts with his emotional investment.”
Jordan continued: “Why do we want this, we want good commentary, we want insightful commentary, we want enthusiastic commentary but we don’t want somebody who is wrapped up in a Manchester United scarf cheering the goal in a big game.

“It goes around the world, why would Sky want it? It goes around the world!”
Some damning quotes from Jordan as he was clearly not impressed with Neville’s commentary during the crunch match between two of England’s most successful clubs.
However, it is understandable that Neville, as a United fan himself reacted with pure emotions after the difficult start that Erik ten Hag’s team have endured.
The Red Devils were winless and pointless when they kicked off against Liverpool on Monday.

Neville spoke after the match about United’s performance.
He said on Sky Sports: “I cannot believe what I have just watched.
“I’m absolutely stunned. I didn't think it was possible tonight what I saw; I thought the players had cemented what they do, week-in, week-out over many months at the end of last season and the start of this season.”
Whilst Carragher was critical of his former side.

He said: “Manchester United got a lot of criticism for their defending at Brentford last week and Liverpool should be getting exactly the same treatment after this.”
United will look to keep up the momentum as they take on Southampton at the St.Mary's stadium on Saturday. Liverpool meanwhile, will hope to secure their first win of the season against newly promoted Bournemouth at Anfield.
