A furious Chelsea fan has smashed up his Three wireless router in protest at the company’s decision to suspend its sponsorship of the Premier League club.
The telecoms company, whose logo is prominently displayed on the club’s kit, announced this week it would ‘temporarily suspend’ its £40m-a-year sponsorship of Chelsea following the British government’s decision to sanction club owner Roman Abramovich.

A statement by Three read: “In light of the government’s recently announced sanctions, we have requested Chelsea Football Club temporarily suspend our sponsorship of the club, including the removal of our brand from shirts and around the stadium until further notice.
“We recognise that this decision will impact the many Chelsea fans who follow their team passionately. However, we feel that given the circumstances, and the Government sanction that is in place, it is the right thing to do.
“As a mobile network, the best way we can support the people of Ukraine is to ensure refugees arriving in the UK from the conflict and customers currently in Ukraine can stay connected to the people who matter to them. Therefore, we are offering connectivity packages to all Ukrainians in the UK, and those in Ukraine”.

One Chelsea supporter hasn’t taken the news too well and has decided to sever ties with Three in dramatic fashion.
In a video posted on Twitter by user Adam1V, the unhappy fan unplugs his Three router and stamps on it before throwing it into his bin.
The video was posted to Twitter in response to a tweet from Three and included the caption: “Unhappy Chelsea fans lets go! #ChelseaFC #LeaveOurClubAlone #CFC.”

His dramatic act has prompted a mixed reaction from fans on social media.
One fellow Chelsea supporter backed him, commenting: “Wish I was in the UK right now. I'll just unfollow them, then report them to Twitter for some crime.
“If I'm lucky, their verification badge may be removed.”
However, others fans have mocked the supporter.
One wrote: “'Dad why the wifi not workin?'"

“‘Son they aren’t proper chels! CHELSEA CHELSEA CHELSEA CHELSEA CHELSEA CHELSEA’.”
Another joked: “BREAKING NEWS* UK mobile phone provider, 3, have reversed their decision to pull sponsorship of Chelsea FC. The decision comes after Glen Robertson destroyed a 3 WiFi router on Twitter.
“Glen still needs to pay up the contract, and now has no WiFi. Dozy p***.”
