Xabi Alonso has previously admitted his Liverpool dream amid latest reports linking him with Real Madrid.
Back in October 2022, Alonso was hired by Bayer Leverkusen to replace Gerardo Seoane with the club sitting second from bottom after eight matches.
Under the guidance of the former Liverpool midfielder, Leverkusen shot up the table to finish in sixth place whilst also reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League.
This season, Leverkusen have made a brilliant start as they sit second in the Bundesliga and only trail Bayern Munich on goal difference.

As a result of the fine job Alonso has done with the German side, reports in Spain have linked him with the Madrid job.
According to Radio MARCA, the bosses at Madrid are not overly concerned about Alonso’s lack of experience and have made the former midfielder their top choice to replace Carlo Ancelotti.
However, in a previous interview, Alonso admitted that he has dreamt of managing Liverpool.
Alonso told talkSPORT: “Yes for sure, I have dreamt of that, but first I have to prove myself and prepare.

“If I decide somewhere along the way to take my chances as a manager, my link, my commitment, my passion with Liverpool is there.”
The Spaniard continued: “Why not? We will see if we can cross paths in our ways.”
It has been widely reported that Ancelotti will step down as Madrid boss when his contract expires at the end of the season.
