Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have made another major announcement just hours after revealing the club had taken on new investors.

On Wednesday afternoon, Wrexham officially announced that the Allyn family of Skaneateles had become minority investors in the club.

Reacting to the news, club co-owners Reynolds and McElhenney praised the family's kindness and intelligence, as they labelled the investment a big part of their 'next phase of our growth.'

And now, just hours after the investment statement, the pair have made another major announcement regarding their ownership of the club.

The Holywood owners took to social media to announce that they had purchased the historic Wrexham Lager brewery company, furthering their roots to the Welsh city.

Announcing the deal alongside a video on X, Reynolds wrote: "Took this whole “Hold my beer” thing to its logical conclusion. Welcome to Wrexham Lager."

The company has been producing beer in Wrexham since 1882, leading to the pair making the video announcement of the purchase in morse code, technology which was used at the same time.

Initially, the lager will only be available in Australia, Great Britain, Japan and Scandinavia, but they add that it will be made available in the United States and Canada soon.

The brewery was originally set up in Wrexham by German immigrants who then exported their product worldwide.

However, the company was later bought and closed by Carlsberg in the early 2000s, resulting in the demolition of the brewery.

But, in 2011, the company brought back by the Wrexham-based Roberts family and now, Reynolds and McElhenney will take charge of the company.

The news comes just hours after Wrexham announced that the Allyn family of Skaneateles, who sold their medical device company for an incredible $2.05 billion in 2015, had invested in the club.

In a joint statement, the pair commented on the news, saying: “Wrexham has earned the world’s attention and we are focused on bringing on board world-class partners to help with the next phase of our growth.

"We have been fortunate to get to know the Allyn family and we are blown away by their intelligence, kindness and commitment.

"They are exactly the type of partners we will need for this amazing endeavour.”
