Wrexham superfan Bootlegger hits out after Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney make takeover announcement

The Wrexham superfan his hit out at the club's owners on social media.

A Wrexham superfan has hit out at club co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney just days after the pair announced a huge takeover of the club.

In an official statement on Wednesday afternoon, Wrexham announced that the Allyn family of Skaneateles had become minority investors in the club.

Hours later, co-owners Reynolds and McElhenney made another huge announcement confirming that they had purchased the historic Wrexham Lager brewery company.

And in the wake of the announcement, online Wrexham superfan Bootlegger has hit out at the Holywood pair on social media.

Once the deal had been completed, Reynolds took to social media to announce the deal, writing: "Took this whole 'Hold my beer' thing to its logical conclusion. Welcome to Wrexham Lager."

Reacting to the clip online, one fan asked for Bootlegger's response, and he quickly replied stating: "Insisted I was removed so duck em mate."

The fan responded, writing: "Everyone knows you are the original man who put them on the map."

To which Bootlegger simply added: "I know it sir."

Bootlegger - real name Karl Phillips - is reportedly furious about being left out of the takeover deal, having launched a collaborative beer with the brewery in 2020.

The social media personality has built up a following of hundreds of thousands by sharing vlogs and posts about Wrexham FC and enjoying a couple of drinks.

This led to Wrexham lager launching the Bootlegger 1974 Pilsner with Phillips in 2020, which is available to buy in the brewery shop and at bars within the city.

However, earlier this year Phillips made accusations online saying that the brewery had failed to pay him for his part in the collaboration, posting clips of him going to the brewery to confront staff.

The brewery responded by adamantly disputing his claims, saying that they had paid the influencer in full, and added that they would have a meeting with him to further discuss the matter.

But now, it appears that he has fallen out with the brewery again, claiming that Holywood duo Reynolds and McElhenney are aware of his profile and were adamant that he would no longer be associated with the brewery after they took over.
