
The breathtaking amount of money that Wrexham must pay players after earning promotion to the Championship has been revealed.
Over the weekend, Wrexham secured their third successive promotion with a 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic earning their an automatic spot in the Championship next season.
At the beginning of the season many football fans underestimated the Red Dragons, claiming that they would finally meet their match in League One, but they proved the doubters wrong finishing in second.

However, promotion for the Welsh side isn't all good news, as a new report has revealed the shocking amount that the club must pay due to now activated clauses in past transfer deals.
Wrexham's squad may be getting used to receiving nice promotion bonuses from Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney having achieved in all but one of the seasons since they arrived at the club in February 2021.
But this time the bonuses will be more than ever, as a report from The Athletic has confirmed that the final bill presented to Wrexham due to their promotion will be around £1.449million.

This total number includes bonuses for players as well monies that are now owed to clubs from clauses included in past transfer deals.
Thankfully for Wrexham, an insurance policy taken out for the first time at the start of this will help cover up to £850,000, reducing the total cost for the Welsh side.
And with an expected £8million boost in TV revenue to come next season and significant investment from partners such as the Allyn family or sponsors like United Airlines, Wrexham will be more than fine.

With the Championship set to be as strong as ever next season, Wrexham will face their toughest chance yet if they hope to cement themselves in England's second-division.

But in an social media post reacting to their promotion, Reynolds doubled down on the club's goal to go even further and make it to the Premier League in the near future.
Posting on Instagram, Reynolds wrote: "We've been with Wrexham for what seems like the blink of an eye, but so much has happened.
"I remember the first press conference, we were asked what our goals were... and I think Rob jumped in with, 'The Premiere League'.
"People laughed. They had every right to. It seemed insane... but we weren't kidding."
