Wrexham are currently planning to build a 5,500-seater stand at the ever-growing Racecourse Ground, but what will the stadium look like in 2050?

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney completed their highly-anticipated takeover of the League Two side in February 2021 after taking 100 per cent control of the Welsh club.

So far, the Hollywood actors have invested a reported £10 million into the fourth tier side, with some of that cash covering the repurchase of the freehold of the club’s 10,771-capacity stadium.

There are also plans to build a new Kop, although the Football League side announced in September that they would need more time to complete the construction.

In fact, they will build a 2,289-seater temporary stand after plans for a 5,500 end were delayed.

Away from the current plans and through the use of AI technology, we can get a glimpse of how Wrexham's stadium could potentially look in 2050.

Using the popular app Midjourney – a text-to-image tool that uses artificial intelligence to generate images from textual descriptions – the Racecourse has been given a dramatic makeover.

As you can see from the images below, the structure has more than quadrupled its overall capacity, with the roof and seating being modernised, as well as the natural surroundings.

Earlier this year, Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney opened up on wanting to build a sustainable business, as well as their long-term commitment to the club.

Speaking on the Fearless in Devotion podcast, McElhenney said: “From the beginning, we’ve been talking about what our short-term strategy is and what our long-term strategy is because we’ve always said we want to build a sustainable business.

“We look at the entire club as a massive investment – an investment in the club, town and future. And neither one of us wants to put ourselves or the club in a position where any one of us are just writing cheques to keep the business of the club afloat.

“Everything we’ve done since we’ve come in is to ensure no matter who comes in – and hopefully it’s us for the rest of our lives – we are building a sustainable business. Whatever that might mean in the future, who’s to say?”
