Wayne Rooney tipped for shock I'm A Celeb cameo alongside Coleen as 'insider' reveals secret ITV plan

Wayne Rooney tipped for shock I'm A Celeb cameo alongside Coleen as 'insider' reveals secret ITV plan

Wayne Rooney could be a surprise part of the hit ITV show.

Wayne Rooney has been tipped to make a shock cameo on this year's I'm A Celebrity.

Rooney's wife Coleen is one of 10 original contestants in the series, with two more late arrivals set to join them.

She is reportedly receiving the joint-highest fee ever to appear on the show, with The Sun claiming that she will earn £1.5 million to draw level with the sum Nigel Farage received last year.

The 39-year-old has yet to complete a bushtucker trial, although did receive her luxury item - a personalised pillow featuring a photo of her children and Wayne - on the third day in camp.

Now, it is claimed that ITV bosses are considering whether to bring back a former segment that could allow Wayne to make a surprise cameo.

They are considering whether to offer contestants the opportunity to have contact with loved ones from home, whether that be in the form of letters or a phone call.

Should Coleen make it that far in the show, that could open up the possibility of Wayne making a surprise appearance - even if only through audio - on I'm A Celebrity.

An insider told the Daily Express: "Towards the end of the series they [show bosses] will offer up little prizes which allow access to loved ones, like the letters from home and sometimes calls from home, and maybe even videos could happen.

"People loved it when Harry Redknapp was reunited with his wife Sandra in camp.

"That can't happen as Wayne isn't going to Australia, so they are looking at other options to get him involved as they know it would be a big hit with viewers and Coleen."

Rooney is currently in charge of Championship side Plymouth Argyle, so will be busy focusing on that role if Coleen gets to the latter stages in the jungle.

Argyle are currently a point outside the relegation zone after 15 games and have produced some memorable moments, including coming from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 against Preston North End at Home Park and beating current leaders Sunderland 3-2 in September.
