Tottenham aimed a dig at bitter rivals Arsenal on their official X account.

On Sunday the Gunners conceded a 97th minute John Stones equaliser to draw 2-2 with reigning champions Manchester City at the Etihad.

Arsenal were down to ten men for much of the game after Leandro Trossard was sent off for a second yellow. In turn, Mikel Arteta compromised his attacking style of play and opted to sit back and protect a 2-1 half time lead.

Of course, the Gunners’ defensive showing was in vein as Stones bundled home at the last to maintain City’s position at the Premier League summit.

And after Tottenham’s 3-0 Europa League victory over Qarabag, a game Ange Postecoglou’s side won despite being down to 10 men after Radu Dragusin’s early red card, the Spurs X account took the opportunity to make a sly dig at Arsenal.

The club's official social media account shared stats from the match with the caption: “10 men and we never stopped playing our football.”

Indeed, rather than adopt a more conservative approach in the wake of the red card Spurs went on to the front foot against the Azerbaijani outfit.

Arsenal fans were quick to respond to their rivals’ unsubtle dig.

One wrote: “4 big chances conceded. Please give them up to Haaland and see what happens.”

A second said: “One play against the best club in the world at the moment, and one played against Qarabag there’s levels to this game.”

A third added: “What a shameless thing to tweet on the official account. It’s even worse cos we’ve beaten this f****** 3 consecutive times at their ground.”

Spurs have won just one of the last eight meetings against Arsenal, with the last coming in May 2022 under Antonio Conte's reign in charge.
