Fans already think one player has ‘sealed’ his spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad after the German watched on during Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat against Newcastle on Saturday lunchtime.
Tuchel, 51, was announced as the new England head coach in October but officially undertook his new role on January 1, 2025, after signing an 18-month contract which will see him take charge of England’s 2026 World Cup campaign.
And just four days into his new role, he was already on the lookout for who he could include in his plans.
The former Chelsea manager was in attendance for Spurs’ 2-1 defeat against Newcastle on Saturday as several England players took part in the Premier League clash.

But there was one in particular that fans think will have impressed the German.
Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon produced a fine performance in north London and was substituted on 78 minutes after scoring a sixth-minute goal before he was replaced by Harvey Barnes, another player who will no doubt be looking to rekindle his Three Lions career. Tuchel even appeared to leave the stadium before full-time with fans thinking he had seen enough.
Tottenham's Dominic Solanke also got on the scoresheet as he looks to add to his three England caps.
Fans on social media had their say on Gordon's excellent showing.

One said: "Anthony Gordon is getting more and more efficient with every passing game. Good timing with Thomas Tuchel taking official charge of England 3 days ago."
Another added: "Gordon is putting a show on for Tuchel… that left wing is his."
A third explained: "Anthony Gordon has been sensational today. Thomas Tuchel will already have him in his first squad if he has any sense about him."

While a fourth commented: "Anthony Gordon is England’s best LW out there right now— deserves to be Thomas Tuchel’s first choice in the role."
The former Everton winger already boasts nine caps for England and was included in Gareth Southgate's squad for Euro 2024 in Germany.
And despite being included in a squad for a senior tournament for the first time, the Liverpool-born winger admitted he was left "disappointed" with his lack of minutes.
“I was disappointed, because I believe in myself so much," he told ITV in September.

"I feel unstoppable, especially at that point of the season I had just had.
"I felt like no-one could defend me, no-one could deal with me over 90 minutes. I felt like I was ready to and really impress people and help the country win the trophy.
“To envision what I envisioned… to what it was, it was disappointing.”
