Steven Gerrard hits rock bottom after footage emerges following latest humiliation in Saudi Arabia

Steven Gerrard is under increasing pressure in Saudi Arabia.

Steven Gerrard’s time in Saudi Arabia has taken a turn for the worse as footage emerged after Al Ettifaq’s latest match.

Back in the summer of 2023, former Liverpool captain Gerrard was named as Saudi Professional League side Al Ettifaq’s manager.

The job in the Middle East was Gerrard’s third managerial role after spells with Scottish club Rangers and Premier League outfit Aston Villa.

During his first summer at Al Ettifaq, Gerrard brought in former Liverpool duo Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum.

In January this year, it was reported that Gerrard had signed an extension until the summer of 2027.

However, Gerrard is now under increasing pressure after Al Ettifaq’s poor run of form.

Gerrard’s men have lost four of their last six matches and after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat against Al Qadsiah, Gerrard was booed by fans. You can watch the footage below.

Speaking about his future recently, Gerrard said: “On the back of recent results in my position you are always aware of disappointment from fans, I have to take that responsibility on my shoulders. That is what I will do and continue to fight and work to improve the recent results.

“I don't react, change or get over-concerned about social media or anyone on the outside of Ettifaq's opinion, my priority is this club. I listen to the people within and continue to support my players.”

He added: “I meet Mr Hatem [Al Misehal, Ettifaq's head of football] after every game and we talk football, whether it is a win, loss or draw. We have fantastic support, myself, the staff and the players from the management team. We did meet yesterday but we meet after every single game.”

Al Ettifaq will be back in action on Tuesday as they take on Al Qadsia in the AGCFF Gulf Club Champions League.
