Fans have come up with a genius idea for next year’s Soccer Aid.

On Sunday Ellen White became the first woman to ever score at Soccer Aid as more than £15million was raised for the charity event, which took place at Stamford Bridge.

The annual charity match, which pits teams of former footballers and celebrities against each other for an England v World XI match saw goals from Joe Cole, Eden Hazard and Alessandro del Piero. England won 6-3.

After the game, it was announced that Soccer Aid had raised more than £106million for charity since its inception in 2006.

Former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino was back in the dugout as manager of the World XI side, while another former Blues boss, Frank Lampard, was working alongside his uncle Harry Redknapp as England manager.

And despite the success of the format, one person proposed an idea to make next year’s Soccer Aid even more successful than this year’s.

A fan proposed on X, formally Twitter: “Still an absolute shambles that Soccer Aid doesn't run a raffle for 2 members of the public to have a 10-minute run out and a few days at the training camps

“£10 entry per person - raise a fortune.”

In response, a second person said: “Great idea how about anybody who makes a contribution leaves their details and can be contacted maybe that could be a way around the gambling rules.”

A third noted: “They had a random guy play a few years ago after his wife won a call-in on Good Morning Britain. He came on for 5 minutes and didn't touch the ball, and was pretty much ignored by the other players.”

The person who initially proposed the idea responded: “I remember that - don't even think it was that long. I think the full experience would just be so incredible and so doable. Talk about once-in-a-lifetime opportunities - there is a reason all the celebrities love it!”
