Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed the one team he does not want to win their respective domestic league this season.

The former Manchester United boss, who has 13 Premier League titles to his name across his 21 campaigns in charge of the club, is familiar with what it takes to win the title.

In England, the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool are all currently battling it out for top spot in the top flight, with just one point separating the sides.

Whereas in France, it is the usual story with Paris Saint Germain currently 12 points clear at the top.

Italy has a slightly more interesting storyline - albeit a greater lead in first - as Inter Milan have opened up a 14-point gap on their rivals AC Milan in second. I Nerazzurri were last crowned champions back in 2020/21.

Spanish giants Real Madrid are currently at the top of the LaLiga table, although it is the Bundesliga table that Ferguson is taking a particular interest in ahead of the final few months of the season.

Speaking on the title race in Germany, which currently has Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen side ten points clear of Bayern Munich in second, Ferguson outlined who he wanted to win the title this season.

"I always hope to see the underdog win," he told the Eintracht Frankfurt website. "Bayern fans may not agree with that, but like all the neutral fans in Germany, I really hope to see someone else win the league again."

Leverkusen secured a 3-0 win against Bayern at home in their last meeting back in February. Alonso's side will face Hoffeinheim after the break while Harry Kane and his Bayern teammates will be against Borussia Dortmund as they look to close the gap on the German league leaders.
