Scott McTominay baffled fans with what he did during Scotland's Euro 2024 clash against Switzerland.

Fans were left baffled by what Scott McTominay did during Scotland's Euro 2024 clash against Switzerland on Wednesday.

Scotland's hopes of advancing to the next round of Euro 2024 remains alive following their hard-fought draw against Switzerland.

Steve Clarke's side opened the scoring through McTominay, who struck in the 13th minute.

But former Liverpool star Xherdan Shaqiri cancelled out the Manchester United man's goal as he curled home a stunning strike.

Scotland were unable to score a second goal, but they have a chance to qualify to the knockout stages when they face Hungary on Sunday.

One tactic against Switzerland, however, confused people on social media as they couldn't wrap their heads around it.

McTominay, who stands at a towering 6 ft 4 in, was on set piece duty as he took corner kicks and free-kicks.

Fans failed to understand the thinking behind putting the 27-year-old on corners and free-kicks due to his aerial prowess.

One X user questioned: "Scottish fans please answer this. Why is McTominay on corners over Gilmour or McGinn, when he's clearly your biggest goal threat?"

A second wrote: "Why is McTominay taking corners and free kicks?? He should be on the end of them!"

A third added: "McTominay is like 6’3, why is he taking the corners man."

A fourth said: "McTominay hitting free kicks and corners when he’s the best player we’ve got at getting on the end of set pieces. It's comical."

Another commented: "McTominay taking corners is genuinely one of the most baffling tactical choices I’ve ever seen."

As one fan mentioned, Scotland boast the likes of Billy Gilmour, John McGinn and Andy Robertson, who are all more than capable of swinging in a good delivery from a dead ball situation.

But the team insisted with McTominay despite his goal-scoring potential in the box.

Having lost to Germany 5-1 in the tournament opener, Scotland have one point to their name in Group A ahead of meeting Hungary in Stuttgart.
