Fans have just discovered England player is Roy Keane's future son-in-law and they're amazed

Keane is set to become the father-in-law of a current Premier League star.

Fans have only just discovered that a Premier League footballer is Roy Keane's future son-in-law - and he's in the current England squad.

Keane, 53, has been married to Theresa Doyle since 1997 and the pair share five children.

In an interview with Irish comedian Tommy Tiernan in 2023, Keane said that he married Theresa five years after their first date went 'very badly', as she didn't want to go to the cinema or have a drink.

He said: "I literally drove back to the car. She said, 'What are you doing?'. I said, 'Well you don't want to go for a drink, you don't want to go to the pictures, what else can we do?'

"She got out and I said, 'Might see you next week'. She said, 'I don't think so', and slammed the door. That was my first date."

The Irishman keeps his family life relatively private but has referenced his wife and children in interviews on several occasions, and has posted photos of them since starting up his Instagram account.

It has now publicly emerged that one of his daughters, Leah, is engaged to a current Premier League footballer.

The player is question is the current Southampton and former Manchester City centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis, who earned his first call-up to the England senior squad for upcoming Nations League matches against Greece and Republic of Ireland.

The 22-year-old took part in a press conference on Tuesday - when a journalist asked him whether he would be receiving any advice from Keane now that he was his future father-in-law.

Harwood-Bellis replied: "It's something that's good and I've taken a lot of advice [from Keane about international football], yeah.Yeah [I'll lean on him for support].

"Everything's focused on Greece at the minute [over the Republic of Ireland game afterwards]. It's a big game, obviously with the result at home, so we want to go over there and get a result.

"It'll be a good atmosphere so it's something that we're looking forward to, and we'll take the challenge on."
