Fans 'never want to see John Lundstram in a Rangers shirt' ever again after shocking incident against Celtic

John Lundstram was shown a red card against Celtic following a VAR review.

Rangers fans are raging at John Lundstram's shocking tackle on Alistair Johnston during their Old Firm clash against Celtic.

The top of the table fixture between Celtic and Rangers burst into life with three quick-fire goals in the space of five blistering minutes.

Celtic opened the scoring in the 35th minute through Matt O'Riley, with an own-goal from Lundstram doubling their advantage.

Two minutes later, Cyriel Dessers pulled one back for the visitors.

After the hosts made it 2-1, Rangers were reduced to 10 men following a moment of madness from Lundstram.

Following his own-goal, the 30-year-old's outing went from bad to worse as he received his marching orders following a VAR review.

He landed an ankle-high tackle on Johnston, with Chris Sutton on commentary stating he was 'out on control'.

The incident was reviewed by VAR as match referee Willie Collum brandished a red card.

Rangers fans on social media didn't hold back as they were left furious with Lundstram's actions on the pitch.

One X user fumed: "John Lundstram should never be seen in a Rangers jersey again."

A second tweeted: "Cost us the game and the league."

A third added: "He’s done that on purpose to get sent off. A fucking disgrace of a player."

A fourth said: "Let everyone down with the challenge."

Another wrote: "Straight red all day long, same old faces have sold the jerseys again."

Lundstram's sending off proved crucial as Celtic ran out 2-1 winners to extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

They move six points clear of second-placed Rangers, with two league games remaining.
