Manchester City star Phil Foden stunned his England team-mates by hitting a 180 playing darts while away on international duty.

Despite struggling for form throughout the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, the City attacking midfielder was still called up to Thomas Tuchel’s 35-man England squad ahead of the upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.

Foden will no doubt already have one eye on potential appearances at the World Cup in North America this summer, but faces a selection battle with fellow number 10s Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer and possibly Jude Bellingham, with all of the aforementioned players favouring an attacking midfield role.

However, ahead of the friendlies, the England squad enjoyed some downtime away from the pitch, playing darts.

A clip emerged via England’s official social media channels showing Foden hitting a 180, to the surprise of John Stones, late call-up Harvey Barnes and Jordan Henderson, with the City man even seemingly shocking himself.

“Oh my God, 180,” Foden shouted while raising his hands before shaking Stones’ hand and hugging the defender.

The team were even given some pointers by reigning PDC world champion Luke Littler when he visited St George’s Park on Wednesday (25 March).

And despite Foden impressing with his 180, it was Newcastle goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale who came out on top in the “Three Lions darts championship”.

Speaking to the Guardian after having dinner with the England team, Littler said: “It was a dream as a football fan to come here to see the facilities, meet all the players and sit down and have dinner and have a laugh with them.

“We played a bit of darts – as they were warming up, Thomas Tuchel told me to teach these boys a lesson! There’s some good potential there in Phil Foden and Aaron Ramsdale. James Trafford had a little bit as well. The others not so much! I wished the boys luck this summer – let’s hope they can bring it home.”

Littler will be in Premier League action this evening (26 March), with night 8 of the competition taking place in Berlin’s Uber Arena.

The teenager faces Stephen Bunting in the night’s quarter-finals. England face Uruguay at Wembley on Friday (27 March).
