Phil Foden leaves England's Euro 2024 camp with immediate effect as FA release official statement

Phil Foden leaves England's Euro 2024 camp with immediate effect as FA release official statement

The FA have released a statement.

The FA have confirmed Phil Foden has 'temporarily left' the England camp following the national team's draw against Slovenia.

Foden started England's stalemate against Slovenia on Tuesday.

He has started each of the Three Lions' group games in Group C, having played in his side's 1-0 win over Serbia and drawn clash against Denmark.

But the Manchester City star has 'temporarily left' the camp for a 'pressing family matter', according to an FA spokesperson.

Gareth Southgate's 26-man squad are staying at the Weimarer Land Spa and Golf resort in Blankenhain, a countryside town in the east of Germany.

It remains to be seen whether Foden will be available for England's next game at Euro 2024.

The 24-year-old has come under criticism for his performances at the tournament as Southgate has fielded him on the left wing, with Jude Bellingham playing as a No.10.

But Foden excelled at Man City as he played in a more central position and scored an impressive 27 goals across all competitions last season.

He's won 37 international caps for England, scoring four goals. He has yet to score at the Euros.

England, meanwhile, topped Group C and resume their Euros campaign on Sunday against an opponent to be determined.
