Only one opponent ever scared Peter Crouch and he didn't even want to face him on the pitch

Peter Crouch was terrified of the player and explained why he he did not want to play against him.

Peter Crouch named the "terrifying opponent he did not want to play against in his career, claiming he meant it when he said he would "break your legs".

Crouch made 468 appearances in the Premier League, scoring 108 goals and turning out for the likes of Spurs, Aston Villa, Southampton, Liverpool, Portsmouth, Stoke City and Burnley.

The 6ft 7 striker also achieved an incredible goal record for England, notching 22 goals in 42 appearances for the Three Lions.

His stint in the professional game lasted around 20 years and saw Crouch come up against a whole host of different players and personalities.

But there was one star that Crouch admitted he was "scared" of and branded him "terrifying" on the pitch.

Kevin Muscat turned out for Crystal Palace, Wolves and Millwall, as well as playing for 46 times for Australia.

But he was renowned for having no issues with leaving one on an opposition player and as per talkSPORT, Muscat was once dubbed ‘the most hated man in football' - with Crouch well aware of his aggression.

“Kevin Muscat scared me," the 44-year-old said on 'The Peter Crouch Podcast'.

"You know people would say ‘I’m going to break your legs’ - when he would say it, you genuinely believed him.”

Crouch’s co-host added: “My seven-year-old asked me who is the dirtiest player of all time. I’ve gone straight to YouTube and typed Kevin Muscat in and let him see the horrors. He understood.

“You can get one-off Kevin Muscat horrors. You can get the best of Kevin Muscat, which is the worst of Kevin Muscat. It’s terrifying.”

Muscat's controversial incidents

Muscat never shied away from controversy and some incidents on the pitch including stamping on the head of Danny Webber, elbowing Gold Coast United's Jason Culina and threatening to break Ashley Young’s legs when he was just a young player learning his trade at Watford.

But Muscat also produce a tackle that was so bad that former Charlton midfielder Matty Holmes was awarded £250,000 by the High Court Holmes.

A horror challenge from Muscat left him requiring skin grafts and a metal bolt in his ankle.

After picking up 123 yellow cards and 12 red cards in his career, Muscat transitioned into management and has coached the likes of Melbourne Victory, Sint-Truiden, Yokohama F. Marinos and current club Shanghai Port in China.
