Player receives 'most embarrassing red card of all time' in footage that has to be seen to be believed

The red card is possibly the most embarrassing in the history of the game.

A footballer playing in a Peru was sent off for during, and the reason will shock you.

With hundreds of football matches played across the world every day, you would think that we have seen it all.

Great goals, unlikely champions and awful VAR decisions, fans of the beautiful game have witnessed a lot over the years.

But in one match in Peru, one of the strangest and most embarrassing red cards in the game was shown, and you have to see it to believe it.

Sebastian Munoz, a player for Pervuvian side Atletico Awajun, was playing a match in the national cup against Cantorcillo FC when his side was awarded a corner kick.

Munoz was responsible for taking the corner, but play was halted as Canatocillo keeper Lucho Ruiz was receiving treatment for an injury.

Therefore, Munoz thought he would seize the moment and time to quickly relieve himself and urinate on the pitch.

A member of the opposition team immediately noticed Munoz's actions and quickly made the match referee aware of what was happening.

The referee made his way over to Munoz and instantly showed him a straight red card for his actions, despite protests from the player who seemed confused over what he had done wrong.

Strangely, it is not the first time that a player has been sent off for this reason as a goalkeeper was sent off in an FA Cup match in a similar situation.

In 2022, Blackfield & Langley FC keeper Connor Maseko was sent off in the 76th minute of an FA Cup qualifying tie against Shepton Mallet FC after he started urinating in a hedge.

Speaking to BBC Sport at the time, co-manager Conor McCarthy said: "The ball went out for a goal kick.

"He needed to go to the toilet so he went up against a hedge and their players started shouting saying 'what's he doing?' to the ref. The ref went up to him and decided to send him off.

"He (Maseko) protected himself. He was inside the hedge. Sometimes when you have to go you have to go.

"I was gobsmacked. We're all pretty shocked by the decision."

The FA Cup match ended 0-0 and was replayed three days later, with Shepton winning the match 3-2.
