Newcastle United have reportedly made an enquiry over a signing that could completely transform their team.
The Magpies haven't shied away from marquee signings in recent years, snapping up the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak and Sandro Tonali.
Yet there's talk that Eddie Howe is keen on topping that signing by going after Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich.

The Germany international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City all linked.
But now reports from Germany, namely BILD, claim that Newcastle have made contact.
It is stressed, however, that a move to St James' Park would be unlikely.

The former RB Leipzig has racked up over 368 appearances for Bayern, winning eight Bundesliga titles in a row.
It's said Kimmich's desire is to continue to competing for major trophies at "the highest level" and he and his family are content in Munich.
His contract is due to expire in 2025 and serious talks over a new deal are yet to take place.

That being said, negotiations are expected to take place in the near future - with Max Eberl leading the conversations.
Kimmich has played 21 times for Bayern in all competitions this season but there was talk a few months back that he is was looking for a new agent as he did not have won.
Christian Falk from BILD said: "Joshua Kimmich has asked around for an agent.

"Kimmich is currently the only Bayern player not represented by an agent.
"The midfielder's current contract runs until 2025 and he's one of the top earners.
"Now they [Bayern and Kimmich] have to talk about a new contract, and the club is saying he can't get more with his current performances.
"Hiring an agent would be an indication that the player is considering a move abroad."
