Gary Lineker has urged Gareth Southgate to call up a Newcastle United star before he opts to switch his international allegiance.
Lineker watched Newcastle comfortably beat Manchester United on Saturday night despite the narrow 1-0 scoreline before urging the England boss to consider a first-time call-up for the next round of international fixtures.
Anthony Gordon scored the only goal of the evening when he slammed home Kieran Trippier's cross at the far post at the beginning of the second half. The former Everton winger's strike was enough to lift the Magpies to sixth place in the Premier League table after leapfrogging Erik ten Hag's side with their victory.
While Gordon has impressed throughout the 2023/24 campaign, it is not the former Everton winger who has been tipped for an England call-up by Lineker. Speaking on the latest episode of The Rest is Football Podcast, Lineker called for 21-year-old Tino Livramento to be called up to the senior Three Lions squad.

"Tino Livramento is a young player but was very impressive on the weekend [vs Man Utd]. I saw him at Southampton but then he got quite a bad injury," he said.
"He looks a very, very talented young player. Incredibly quick, powerful and a great engine getting up and down there.
"He's 21 and is available to play for England, Scotland and Portugal I believe.

"I think Gareth Southgate needs to get on to the phone with him. There's no games he can play in for a while, but you would wouldn't you? I mean he plays on both sides as well. I know at right-back we're got lots of really great ones but definitely a player for the future.
To which Alan Shearer replied: "He's played for England at every level up until now so I would really hope that someone has already been on the phone to him, to tell him he's got a big future in the England squad.
"They spent about £30 million on him, I didn't realise how good of a player he was until I saw him in the Newcastle shirt. Whether it's at right-back or left-back, he's been absolutely sensational."
Livramento has made eight appearances in the top flight of English football this season, with the attacking full-back yet to record a goal or assist in black and white.
