Man Utd fans make bold claim about Ruud Van Nistelrooy after his first win for Leicester

Man Utd fans make bold claim about Ruud Van Nistelrooy after his first win for Leicester

The new Leicester boss took charge of his first game since being appointed, against West Ham this evening.

Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge of his first game since being appointed first-team manager of Leicester City, this evening – and fans are all saying the same thing.

Van Nistelrooy, 48, saw the Foxes put in an impressive performance as they beat West Ham 3-1 at the King Power.

Jamie Vardy opened the scoring on two minutes before Bilal El Khannouss and Patson Daka added second half strikes.

West Ham's Niclas Fullkrug scored a 93rd-minute consolation goal for the Hammers.

The win saw them move up to 15th in the Premier League, four points above the relegation zone.

Of course, the Dutchman was interim head coach of Manchester United following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal in October.

But now fans of the club are already suggesting he could become the United boss on a permanent basis in the future.

One said: “Ruud see you at Manchester United in 2029.”

Another added: “Ruud van Nistelrooy already transforming Leicester. Will Manchester United regret not giving him the job?”

With a third commenting: “Future United coach for sure."

A fourth exclaimed: "Van Nistelrooy is cooking something."

A fifth said: "As a Manchester United supporter. You're making me happy Ruud!"

A sixth explained: "Ruud cooked at Manchester United to bring us back to reset."

The new Leicester boss previously expressed he was "disappointed" that he had to leave United when Ruben Amorim took charge of the club on November 11.

"The moment I took over the interim job what I said was I'm here to help United and to stay to help United, and I meant it," said Van Nistelrooy when speaking to BBC Sport.

"So I was disappointed, very much so, and it hurt I had to leave [Man United].

"In the end I got my head round it because I also understand the new manager. I'm in football long enough and I've managed myself. I understand.

"I spoke to Ruben about it, fair enough to him, the conversation was grateful, man to man, person to person, manager to manager. That helped [me] a lot to move on and straightaway get into talks with new possibilities which of course lifted my spirits."

The 48-year-old penned a two-year deal at the Foxes, taking charge of the club following Steve Cooper's departure.
