Ruben Amorim told he has only two 'standard setters' in the Man Utd dressing room

Ruben Amorim reportedly has two players who are of extra importance in the Man United dressing room.

Ruben Amorim reportedly has two standard-setters in the Manchester United dressing for when he officially starts his reign at Old Trafford.

Amorim has signed a deal until 2027 after United agreed to pay his £8.3 million release clause and will formally begin his stint as Erik ten Hag's replacement on 11 November.

That means the 39-year-old will still take charge of a further two Sporting games, including a clash with United's rivals Manchester City, before his new duties come into play in the next international break.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue as interim boss for two more fixtures, with Amorim's first game in charge set to be the trip to Ipswich Town at Portman Road on November 24.

There is plenty of curiosity as to what changes Amorim will be able to make in the short-term and a recent report from Sky Sports states that United's top brass have belief that he is the man to get the best out of some of their very expensive talent who haven't delivered.

But it's also said that there are two players in the squad who are seen as hugely important for driving the standards - the stars in question being Amorim's compatriots Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot.

"United are confident that their incoming new leader can make some of their mega buys actually look like good business," Melissa Reddy wrote.

"It is helpful that two of the most influential members of the squad - Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot - the standard setters according to the dressing room, are Amorim's compatriots."

Fernandes has of course been United's official captain for a season and though his antics do receive criticism, there is the consensus that he never hides and gives everything on the pitch.

Dalot, meanwhile, was one of United's most consistent players last season and Cristiano Ronaldo labelled him a "top professional".

Amorim is set to receive a limited transfer budget to strengthen in January and instead focus on coaching and improving the current crop.

A report from The Guardian, claims that young stars Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund and Kobbie Mainoo all are seen as unsellable at all costs.
