Fans spot Man Utd brutally trolling Man City after Ruben Amorim's masterclass against Pep Guardiola in the Champions League

Amorim's Sporting Lisbon thrashed Man City 4-1 in the Champions League.

Fans spotted Manchester United trolling Manchester City as Ruben Amorim's Sporting Lisbon defeated the reigning Premier League winners 4-1 in the Champions League.

In one of the most stunning results of the season, Sporting came back from 1-0 down to defeat Pep Guardiola's side and send a warning sign to the rest of the Premier League in the process.

Viktor Gyokeres scored a hat-trick - after netting four goals in Sporting's 5-1 win over Estrela on Friday - while Maximiliano Araujo also got on the scoresheet.

Amorim will take charge of Manchester United in just five days' time, with the Portuguese boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

And while the situations of Sporting and United are significantly different - United sit 14th in the Premier League table - the victory over City is a sign of what Amorim can do with a settled squad performing at their highest level.

And the Red Devils' social media team decided to poke fun at City and Guardiola in their own way after the full-time whistle.

On Twitter, United retweeted their post confirming that Amorim would be appointed officially at Old Trafford on November 11.

In the pre-match press conference, Amorim was asked whether he could answer a question in English rather than his native Portuguese.

However, the 39-year-old repeatedly declined when pressed on the issue by Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill, who asked him: "You could be a hero even before you get on a plane to Manchester. Has that crossed your mind?"

He then described Amorim's decision not to answer in English as a 'cold shoulder to all your English fans'.

United are said to be 'disappointed' by Cotterill and Sky's approach, according to the Daily Mail, but are not expected to publish an official statement on the matter.
