Man Utd fans think one player is going to thrive under Ruben Amorim after his performance against Leicester

Manchester United were in action against Leicester City.

Manchester United fans have picked out one player that they think will flourish under incoming boss Ruben Amorim.

On Wednesday night, the post-Erik ten Hag era began at Old Trafford as United hosted fellow Premier League side Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.

United found themselves 4-2 ahead at the end of the first half thanks to a brace from Casemiro and goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes.

Bilal El Khannous and Conor Coady were the scorers for Steve Cooper’s side.

In the second half, Fernandes scored his second of the night to make it 5-2 in the 59th minute.

As United eased through to the last eight of the Carabao Cup, their fans have picked out midfielder Manuel Ugarte as someone who could thrive under new boss Amorim.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Manuel Ugarte has been absolutely incredible tonight.”

Another tweeted: “Manuel Ugarte is putting in a solid performance.”

A third fan added: “Manuel Ugarte was incredible tonight, how come he wasn't starting all this while.”

Someone else wrote: “Ugarte been class in midfield. Could see him being really good in that role for Amorim ‘again’.”

A fifth commented: “Ugarte has been very good, he’s gonna cook under Amorim.”

Another fan said: “My MOTM so far… Can’t wait for him under Amorim, this is only the start for Ugarte.”

When asked about joining United, Amorim said: “There is interest from Manchester United, there is the payment of a contract term and when I have something more solid, I will come here and tell my position, because it will be my choice.

“While I don't have everything decided, for one side or the other, I can't tell much more.”

United will be back in Premier League action this weekend when they welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
