Footage of Ruben Amorim and Joshua Zirkzee during Ipswich draw has got Man Utd fans talking

Footage of Ruben Amorim and Joshua Zirkzee during Ipswich draw has got Man Utd fans talking

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

Manchester United fans have been reacting on social media after footage of Ruben Amorim and Joshua Zirkzee from the draw against Ipswich Town emerged.

On Sunday afternoon, ex-Sporting Clube de Portugal boss Amorim got his first taste of Premier League football as he took charge of his first match as United boss against newly promoted Ipswich at Portman Road.

United went ahead inside two minutes after Marcus Rashford tapped home from close range. However, they failed to build on the early goal as Omari Hutchinson's stunning strike in the 43rd minute earned Kieran McKenna's men a 1-1 draw.

After the match, footage of Amorim speaking to striker Zirkzee on the bench went viral.

The Dutch striker has struggled since moving to Old Trafford from Bologna in the summer, having only scored one goal for the club in the Premier League.

In recent weeks, the 23-year-old has been linked with a transfer away, with Juventus said to be interested in a loan move.

Against Ipswich, Amorim was seen giving some final instructions to Zirkzee before his introduction in the 68th minute.

Reacting on social media, fans were quick to make fun at the Dutchman's expense.

One fan said: "Idk what this means, Ruben, but Zirkzee ain’t doing all that."

Another tweeted: "He’s not Gyokores."

A third fan added: "He ain’t got a clue."

Someone else wrote: "What sort of scouts do Utd have that made them go for Zirkzee in the first place."

Speaking after the match, Amorim picked out what Zirkzee has to do in order to improve his game.

He said: "I think that [decision-making] is a concern, you don’t need to coach them at this level.

"You have to keep the ball and know the momentum to put the ball in front. Sometimes you feel that you can’t keep the ball and you [have to] put the ball in front."

Amorim continued: "Then you have like we are in the end of the game, we were around the box with two strikers. Josh [Zirkzee] has to understand that he has to go to the box to have the crosses."

The Red Devils will be back in action on Thursday when they take on Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa League at Old Trafford.
