Man United boss Ruben Amorim has responded to Ed Sheeran gatecrashing his interview with Sky Sports after his first game in charge.

Ruben Amorim has responded after Ed Sheeran was accused of rudely interrupting the Manchester United manager's interview with Sky Sports.

On Sunday, Amorim took charge of his first United game as they drew 1-1 with Ipswich Town at Portman Road. Afterwards, he was whisked in for a pitchside chat with Sky Sports' panel but it was gatecrashed by global music star Sheeran.

The 33-year-old, a big Ipswich fan and investor into the club, came in shot and briefly greeted Jamie Redknapp while Amorim was present and received backlash for what many perceived to be "rude" behaviour.

Amorim looked utterly furious, as Sheeran commented: "I don't think he (Ruben Amorim) wants to speak to me".

The singer-songwriter felt the need to address the controversy and issued an apology on Instagram, saying he "didn't actually realise he was being interviewed at the time" and that he was "popping to say hi and bye to Jamie".

Amorim looked like he had a face like thunder and a body language expert claimed he was "far from happy with the circus". He later admitted he wanted less media commitments going forward and had spoken to United's head of communications.

But the the 39-year-old has now clarified that he didn't have a major issue with what went down and saw it was "nothing special". He also joked that Roy Keane was "the real star" of the panel.

"Here, you are used to seeing that [Sheeran interrupting him on live TV]. In Portugal, it is so different," Amorim said in his press conference ahead of his second game in charge of United.

"I think you sometimes overcomplicate things [in England]... It was nothing. It was a simple question or saying hello to one of the commentators, you call it commentators?"

"So, for me, it was nothing; I was just thinking of the game. And I was with Roy Keane, and Roy Keane was the real star on that panel! So, for me, it was really, really okay. It was nothing special."

Amorim's debut in the dugout at Old Trafford is against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday.
