Ralf Rangnick reportedly suggested nine players to the Manchester United hierarchy during his time in charge.

Back in 2021, following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's departure, Rangnick was appointed United's interim manager.

With a wealth of experience in Germany and a reputation for influencing the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel, and Julian Nagelsmann, many expected Rangnick to be a successful appointment.

However, Rangnick endured a tough spell in charge, winning 11, drawing 10, and losing eight of his 29 matches at Old Trafford.

According to German news outlet BILD, Rangnick had a list of nine players he felt United should sign to compete with the top teams.

The list included Alvaro Morata, Luis Diaz, Dusan Vlahovic, Josko Gvardiol, Christopher Nkunku, Erling Haaland, Enzo Fernandez, Julian Alvarez and Konrad Laimer.

Alvaro Morata

One of the most recognisable names in European football, Morata has played for the likes of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Chelsea.

He also captained Spain to Euro 2022 glory, beating England in the final. He is currently playing for Serie A side Como.

Luis Diaz

Having produced impressive performances at FC Porto, United's interest was expected.

However, the Colombian was snapped up by United's rivals, Liverpool, in January 2022.

After winning the Premier League last season, Diaz left Anfield for Bayern Munich.

Dusan Vlahovic

The Serbian was linked with a move to the Premier League on multiple occasions, but a move failed to materialise.

Vlahovic remains with Juventus and has scored six goals in 17 matches this season.

Josko Gvardiol

Gvardiol joined Manchester City back in 2023 and went on to win the Premier League during this 23/24 season.

The Croatian is one of Pep Guardiola's most important players due to his ball-playing ability and versatility.

Christopher Nkunku

Nkunku was highly rated at RB Leipzig and ended up at Chelsea in the summer of 2023.

However, due to multiple injury issues, Nkunku failed to nail down a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge.

The Frenchman joined AC Milan during last summer's transfer window.

Erling Haaland

Perhaps the biggest mistake of them all, United's failure to land Haaland meant the Norwegian went to cross-town rivals City.

Since then, the 25-year-old has broken records left, right and centre.

Enzo Fernandez

Fernandez became Chelsea's most expensive player in January 2023 when he left Benfica for a reported fee of £106.8 million.

The Argentine has since won the World Cup and is a key player for the Blues.

Julian Alvarez

Another player that ended up at City, Alvarez played 103 matches for Guardiola between 2022 and 2024.

The forward left the Etihad Stadium for Atletico Madrid during the 2024 summer window.

Konrad Laimer

Laimer was linked with a move to Old Trafford back in 2022 but ended up signing for Bayern.

Laimer is now a key player for Rangnick as he is currently the manager of the Austrian national team.
