Manchester United are prepared to battle with several Premier League rivals to sign one of the best players in England.

The end of the 2025/26 Premier League season is rapidly approaching, and fans are already starting to look ahead to what promises to be a busy summer transfer window.

With many of the biggest players in the world busy competing at the World Cup in North America, clubs will be planning ahead for next season and negotiating deals for new signings.

All of the top clubs in the Premier League are expected to remain active throughout the window, with United chief among them as they look to capitalise on the momentum gained in the final weeks of the ongoing season.

According to several reports, Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali is believed to be one of the top targets for United, with his future at St James' Park increasingly in doubt.

But United won't be the only club interested in signing the Italian, as Manchester City and Arsenal are also believed to be ready to compete in an all-out war for the midfielder.

Tonali's future is expected to be one of the biggest topics of the summer, and according to TuttoJuve, the three Premier League giants are leading the race for his signature.

Arsenal reportedly made a late attempt to sign the 25-year-old during the recent winter transfer window, but all negotiations were halted by Newcastle, who refused to let him go mid-season.

However, the Geordie club are believed to be more open to letting him go in the summer, particularly if it becomes clear that it is his wish to leave St James' Park.

And it is becoming increasingly clear that this could be exactly what Tonali wants, after his agent, Giuseppe Riso, recently implied that the move to Newcastle was always intended to be a stepping stone.

Speaking about the transfer, Riso told Italian outlet Calcio E Finanza: "The deal came about because a club like Newcastle with unlimited financial resources had decided to invest in Sandro. We considered the idea of having the player play in a higher-level league.

"That was the goal from the moment he went to England – to try to make him a star player. I think he's the Italian footballer with one of the highest values in the world."

If Newcastle were to sell Tonali it would be a major blow to Eddie Howe's side, particularly if they were to also lose other key players linked with a summer move such as Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes.
