Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to return to management.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could face Manchester United this season after 'accepting' his first job since leaving the club.

Solskjaer has been out of work since his dismissal at Man United back in November 2021.

He initially took charge of the Red Devils in a caretaker role after replacing Jose Mourinho for the rest of the 2018/19 season.

The Norwegian enjoyed a stunning caretaker spell before being appointed on a permanent basis after winning 14 of his 19 matches in charge.

But Man United's performances dipped as he was eventually relieved of his managerial duties at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has been linked with several managerial gigs since his Man United sacking, but he has yet to return to the dugout.

However, Sports Digitale claim Solskjaer is about to become the new head coach of Besiktas.

He's expected to watch Besiktas' game against Samsunspor on Saturday from the stands before taking charge of their Europa League fixture against Athletic Bilbao on January 22.

If Solskjaer does indeed join Besiktas, then he could come up against Man United as both teams are involved in this season's Europa League campaign.

The Turkish giants have won just two of their opening six European games and occupy 28th spot.

As for Man United, they lie in seventh place, which is an automatic qualification position.

Solskjaer is also in line to pit his wits against Mourinho, who is the manager of Fenerbahce.

Besiktas have been without a permanent head coach since Giovanni van Bronckhorst was let go in late November. Serdar Topraktepe has been managing the team on an interim basis, with Solskjaer set to take over.

It's set to be the 51-year-old's fourth club of his managerial career, having taken charge of Molde as well as Cardiff City and, of course, Man United.

He spent over three years at Molde before being hired by Cardiff. He then returned to Molde before returning to Man United as a manager, having enjoyed a legendary playing career at the club.
