The reason why Manchester United decided not to replace Erik ten Hag with Mauricio Pochettino has been revealed.
Ever since the 23/24 season came to a close, Ten Hag’s future has been plunged into darkness.
Although the Red Devils endured a tough campaign, they managed to end the season on a high as they clinched the FA Cup by beating Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley.

Earlier in the week, it was reported that after conducting their end-of-season review, United have decided to stick with Ten Hag as manager.
Prior to the decision being made, it was reported that United were considering the likes of Thomas Frank, Kieran McKenna, Roberto De Zerbi, Marco Silva, Thomas Tuchel and Pochettino.
As reported by the Daily Mail, United opted against Pochettino as talks took place in the same week as his departure from Chelsea.

The report stated: “The view was that the had barely stopped spinning in the washing machine and may well be best served doing a Tuchel and taking some time off.
“It is understood that the prospect of negotiating an agreement with Chelsea over compensation due under the terms of his departure from Stamford Bridge also complicated matters.”
Looking ahead to pre season, which is set to start in July, Ten Hag said: “We have a strong first-team squad there with players that can present themselves to the fans. But especially to us. They have the levels to play in our team for next season.

“There will be a mix, with experienced players together with some young players. [The squad will be] as strong as possible but, of course, the players who go far in the Copa America and the Euros will not be involved. Pre-season is about preparing for the season and we have to make that our next step.”
