Marcus Rashford's brother breaks silence after Man Utd star dropped by Ruben Amorim

Marcus Rashford's brother breaks silence after Man Utd star dropped by Ruben Amorim

Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were both dropped from the United squad to take on Manchester City.

Marcus Rashford's brother has broken his silence after the England forward was dropped from the matchday squad by manager Ruben Amorim for the 2-1 win over Manchester City.

Neither Rashford nor Alejandro Garnacho were part of the squad to travel to the Etihad Stadium, with Amorim insisting that the decision was not related to disciplinary issues.

He instead explained that 'we have to push our standards incredibly high', telling reporters: "It's important - the performance in training, the performance in game, the way you dress, the way you eat, the way you engage with team-mates, the way you push your team-mates. Everything is important in our context in the beginning of something when we want to change a lot of things."

Rashford posted on Instagram at full-time of the 2-1 victory, which saw late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo secure a memorable comeback win.

Instead of addressing the situation, Rashford posted a photo of the game on his TV and congratulated his team-mates with the caption: "Yesssssssss! Love it lads." Garnacho is yet to comment.

Now, Rashford's brother Dwaine Maynard - who is also his agent - has broken his silence on the matter, also on Instagram.

He wrote, in response to Rashford's post: "As you say, all you want is United to win. Regardless of anything else."

It is not explicitly whether both players will be back in contention to feature in United's next fixture, their Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham on Thursday.

Rashford may not have featured against City regardless after he was substituted on 59 minutes during their 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League.

Garnacho, meanwhile, came off the bench with 10 minutes remaining, and both players will now have to fight to win their places back after Sunday's comeback win over City.
