Manuel Ugarte's social media post goes viral after 'headbutt' in Man Utd's FA Cup win over Arsenal

Manchester United knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Manuel Ugarte has gone viral after posting on social media on the back of Manchester United's FA Cup victory over Arsenal.

On Sunday afternoon, the Red Devils began their defence of the FA Cup as they took on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Ruben Amorim's men put in a spirited display as they managed to hold the Gunners to a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes of action, with Bruno Fernandes and Gabriel Magalhaes the scorers.

Eventually, United sealed their place in the next round after coming out on top in a tense penalty shootout, with Kai Havertz missing the crucial spot kick.

During the match, Ugarte was involved in a controversial moment with Havertz on the back of the penalty given away by Harry Maguire.

Ugarte and Havertz appeared to be involved in a heated clash with Havertz holding his face after falling onto the ground.

Many fans felt the Uruguayan was lucky VAR was not in use as replays showed he appeared to 'headbutt' Havertz.

After the match, Ugarte sent a defiant message to fans, he wrote on social media: "When we have the ball, it’s a game and when we don’t, it’s a fight. Let’s keep it going always together."

Speaking to the media after the victory, a delighted Amorim said: "Thankfully, the players were there. They fight, and what we talk about before the match is not technical or tactical, but this. We have to compete no matter the situation, and we competed today.

"I think they [Arsenal] had more chances, but I think we deserved to win."

He continued: "Arsenal maybe didn’t deserve to lose, but we deserved the win, with the way we played and the way we fought.

"It was really tough at the beginning and not having the ball, but without the ball you can control the game."

United have been drawn against Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The Red Devils will return to Premier League action this week when they take on bottom-side Southampton on Thursday night at Old Trafford.
