A Manchester United defender is set to miss out on a contract should Harry Maguire remain at Old Trafford.
According to the Guardian, the England centre-back’s £30million move to West Ham has collapsed after the Hammers grew tired of waiting for the defender to agree to his exit from United.
Although there is reportedly a chance the move could be revived later in the window, it is said to be off at the moment.

West Ham had grown frustrated over the delay to the Maguire move and are looking at alternative options in defence.
Maguire had settled personal terms with the Hammers but the club have been waiting for the England international to agree a payoff from the Old Trafford side. While the Guardian claimed the desired pay-off was in the region of £7million the Sun have reported it could be worth up to £15million.
Indeed, the 30-year-old received a considerable salary increase as a result of United qualifying for the Champions League and would be on less money at the London club.

Should Maguire stay at United Jonny Evans may miss out on a longer-term United contract.
The Mirror claimed before Maguire’s deal fell through that Evans was set to sign a one-year deal with United.
Erik ten Hag was reportedly keen to hand the former Leicester City defender another contract at Old Trafford after he signed a short-term deal to play for them in pre-season.
United are yet to confirm whether Evans will remain part of the Dutchman’s squad for the entire season, however, Maguire remaining at Old Trafford could scupper the 35-year-old's hopes of a deal.

United had planned to raise funds through the sale of Maguire, who has barely featured during Ten Hag's tenure.
The defender, who was signed for some £80million back in 2019, has two years on his contract. However, he made just eight Premier League starts last season and has reportedly been warned by Gareth Southgate that his England place will be under threat should he remain on the sidelines.
Moving to the Hammers would provide Maguire with a chance to play regularly and ensure he is in a position to start for England at Euro 2024 next summer.
