Alejandro Garnacho has revealed who his ‘closest friends’ in the Manchester United squad are.
Garnacho, 20, alongside Marcus Rashford, 27, was left out of United’s 20-man matchday squad for the 2-1 Manchester derby victory over Manchester City last Sunday.
Ahead of the game, Amorim explained the reasons behind his decision.

“Selection,” he told Sky Sports.
“I chose the players that I felt were ready to cope with the demands of playing a strong game.
“I try to visualise all the week and then choose my players. Just selection.”

Garnacho was re-introduced to United’s squad for the 4-3 Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat against Tottenham on Thursday evening and replaced Manuel Ugarte for the final 20 minutes in north London.
Amorim explained how he was pleased with the player’s response to the setback this week.
“Really good,” he said on Wednesday when speaking in a press conference.

“[Alejandro Garnacho] trained really well. He seems a little bit upset with me, and that is perfect.
“I was really, really happy because I would do the same, and he is ready for this game. So we'll see in the end of this training.”
Relations between the United boss and his player seemed to have improved in the week since Garnacho was omitted from the United squad.
Speaking in a video posted to Man United’s official X account in October, the Argentine described how playing for the 20-time Premier League champions was “an incredible feeling” and continued to reveal who his ‘closest’ teammates were.

“Well, everyone [is] close, but I’m more [close] with Kobbie [Mainoo] and Amad,” said Garnacho.
The 20-year-old will likely feature in United’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Garnacho will no doubt be hoping to become a regular starter under Amorim, with his versatility possibly playing to his advantage, with the player able to play on both the left and right flank when required.
However, a criticism often aimed at the player is his lack of appetite for defensive work, which is a key aspect of Amorim's 3-5-2 formation.

Of course, at just 20 years old, Garnacho is by no means the finished product and will likely improve his game in future.
