Ruben Amorim has been told about a player in the Manchester United ranks who is "impossible to ignore" as he prepares to take charge of his first game.

After succeeding Erik ten Hag as the next United head coach, Amorim has some big decisions to make in the coming months when it comes to team selection.

Amad Diallo is set for a 'prominent' role under the new manager, according to journalist Dean Jones, who says Amorim is 'excited' by the winger's technical ability, work off the ball, and creativity in the final third.

We will get more of an insight into his thinking on Sunday afternoon, when United travel to Portman Road to take on newly-promoted Ipswich Town.

But ahead of the Premier League clash, Amorim has been urged to take a look at one of their academy prospects.

Earlier this week, United under-21s maintained their unbeaten record in the National League Cup with a 4-0 win over Altrincham as highly-rated striker Ethan Ennis scored a hat-trick.

Ennis, who joined the Reds from Liverpool in 2021, becoming the first player in 57 years to do so, has netted nine goals and two assists in 12 academy appearances this season.

And the 19-year-old forward has been tipped to push for a spot in the first-team by Steven Railston of the Manchester Evening News.

"So what you might be wondering, could Ennis be pushing to make his first-team debut? The answer is he should be," he said.

"Whether Ennis is given an opportunity to play for the first-team remains to be seen, but he can't do much more in academy games and seems guaranteed to enjoy a fulfilling career. He produced a goal in the final seconds for his hat-trick and is a youngster worth closely watching."

Ennis, who penned a new contract in the summer, will spend the first half of the season with United's under-21s before his situation is assessed in January. He could

Back in August, the MEN reported: "He will continue to be an integral U21 player and could be allowed to leave on a temporary deal to challenge himself in a senior environment in the January window."
