Manchester United will consider making a £40 million move for one of the Premier League's most in-form players, according to a new report, as rumours continue to swirl around his future.
It is unlikely to be a busy month for United unless players are offloaded as the club 'desperately' try to generate income to comply with profit and sustainability rules.
Earlier this week, it was reported that academy products Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho could be sold in a bid to comply with the rules as homegrown players are worth 100 per cent profit.

United, meanwhile, have been linked with numerous players in recent weeks, including Viktor Gyokeres, Nuno Mendes and Sverre Nypan, who is attracting interest from a host of top European clubs.
And now, a new name has emerged in Brentford forward Bryan Mbuemo, who has been superb for Thomas Frank's side this season, notching 13 goals and three assists in the Premier League.
Ruben Amorim is said to be a 'huge admirer' of the in-form striker, according to the Star. In fact, the Portuguese coach admires Mbeumo's versatility in a front three, as well as his work ethic.

He also believes Mbuemo would fit into his long term plans and is keeping a close eye on him ahead of the summer window, with a potential £40 million move being mooted.
As mentioned earlier, United will unlikely make any big moves in January but the club are 'willing to wait until the end of the season' to chase Mbuemo, when Amorim is handed a bigger transfer budget.
The Cameroon international would find a transfer to United difficult to turn down, according to the report.
Earlier this month, when Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle were being linked with a January move for Mbuemo, Brentford boss Thomas Frank sent a defiant message regarding the player's future.

"In January? I would say good luck," he said. "We love Bryan. He loves playing here. He has had a fantastic season, so nothing will happen."
Former Chelsea and Spurs defender Jason Cundy believes Mbeumo would be a perfect replacement for Mohamed Salah if he does decide to leave Liverpool in the summer.
“I think, when you look at what might happen at Liverpool with Salah, I’m looking at Mbeumo and what he’s capable of,” Cundy told talkSPORT. “He’s a little mini Salah off that right hand side, [cutting in onto] his left foot.

“He has got years [left at the top level]. He has got years.”
