Man Utd fans agree on the player they should target next after David Ornstein’s bombshell Manuel Ugarte update

Man Utd fans agree on the player they should target next after David Ornstein’s bombshell Manuel Ugarte update

United fans have made their feelings clear.

Manchester United fans are saying the same thing about the identity of their next transfer target after it was revealed the club have pulled out of talks to sign PSG star Manuel Ugarte.

United had held interest in the Uruguay midfielder for much of the transfer window, and had reportedly agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old.

But The Athletic report that United have pulled out of negotiations as they are unwilling to match PSG's £51 million asking price.

They will now turn their attention elsewhere, and still hold interest in free agent midfielder Adrien Rabiot, though talks have not progressed as of yet.

However, United fans agree on the player they believe the club should be making a key transfer priority over the coming weeks - Real Sociedad and Spain star Martin Zubimendi.

One fan wrote: "Please go for Zubimendi. There's been rumoured interest. Please go ahead and sign him. Better than everyone on the list, even Ugarte."

Another said: "I prefer the Martin Zubimendi direction because getting rid of AWB for Mazraou, it's clear we want to go full possession."

A third argued: "Selling Casemiro and McTominay to sign Ugarte makes absolutely zero sense. Zubimendi is better, actually far better."

A fourth simply stated: "We need Zubimendi now."

While a fifth said: "Zubimendi and [Youssouf] Fofana are definitely the best options on the list, hopefully we can get at least one of those."

One key issue for United in sealing Zubimendi's signature will be the player's wishes.

He has previously decided against leaving Sociedad, where he has spent his entire playing career, and has shown little indication that he would depart the club in the future amid heavy interest from Arsenal.

The 25-year-old, who starred in the second half of the Euro 2024 final against England last month, does have a release clause of €60 million.
