Manchester United have extended the contract of defender Victor Lindelof, according to David Ornstein - with the Swedish international considered a key part of Erik ten Hag's plans.
Lindelof's absence from the team through injury, along with fellow centre-back Harry Maguire, has been felt in recent weeks, with Ten Hag having to turn to Jonny Evans and young defender Willy Kambwala to partner Raphael Varane.
When fit and available, though, the former Benfica man has been a regular starter under the Dutchman this season.

Lindelof's versatility - he can play on both sides of central defence and at full-back if required - is a major plus point for Ten Hag as he grapples with defensive injuries.
Writing for The Athletic, Ornstein has now revealed that United have activated the one-year option on Lindelof's contract to keep him at Old Trafford until 2025.
His contract was previously due to expire next summer, which would have allowed the Swede to discuss pre-contract opportunities with European clubs from January 1.

There is still the possibility, though, that United may look to sell the 29-year-old next summer, with the contract decision meaning there is now no risk of the club losing Lindelof on a free transfer come June.
Speaking in April, Ten Hag summed up the defender's importance to his squad: "It is not always easy when you are in a club that is Manchester United and you need a big squad.
"There are also players who are capable of playing every game, like Victor. But he is not playing every game because you are not picked, and then you have to wait for your moment. When the moment is there, you have to prove it.
"And now there are a number of games after each other that he is really contributing and really consistent in his performance, and the team needs it."
