Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Erik ten Hag’s future as Manchester United boss.
There has been much speculation over whether Ten Hag will be at United next season after a topsy-turvy season that included a dismal eighth-placed league finish, the club’s lowest in the Premier League era.
However, Ten Hag appeared to give himself a fighting chance on Saturday after claiming a well-deserved 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final to become the first United manager since Sir Alex Ferguson to win silverware in successive seasons.

And according to transfer guru Romano, the United board are set for a review of Ten Hag’s position this week, after making contact with the representatives of alternatives.
Romano said: “Manchester United board set for review this week in order to decide on Erik ten Hag’s future.
“Contacts with representatives of other managers already took place in order to be ready, up to directors and INEOS now.

“Internal talks start today, crucial days and hours ahead.”
In the wake of his FA Cup triumph, Ten Hag boldly said: “If they don’t want me, then I will go somewhere else to win trophies because that is what I do.”
Meanwhile, Veteran defender Jonny Evans said he hoped Ten Hag would remain.
“You want a manager who shows trust and belief,” said the Northern Ireland skipper.

“I’ve only got really good things to say about him.
“Over the last month, he has shown incredible tactical flexibility. Sitting off and counter-attacking is not the style he sees himself coaching but he has recognised the right time to do it and has done it.”
On Friday the Guardian claimed Ten Hag would be sacked no matter what the outcome of the FA Cup final. It was a report that caused a barrage of speculation ahead of Saturday’s showpiece event.
