Gary Neville has been rinsed on social media after highlights of his performance against Real Madrid went viral for the wrong reasons.
Neville came through the ranks and spent his entire career at Manchester United, racking up 602 appearances and winning eight Premier League titles.
The Sky Sports pundit was also capped 85 times for England. Neville himself regularly plays down his footballing ability and stresses that he got by from work-rate, a point former teammate Wayne Rooney agreed with.
The 48-year-old has even talked about how he would struggle in the modern game given what's expected from defenders on the ball these days.

And a video of Neville in action against Real might just have furthered that view. CF Comps posted two minutes worth of footage showing the right-back struggling against Los Blancos.
Neville's ability on the ball wasn't quite up to scratch and he regularly went long with his passes, often failing to find feet and putting the ball out of play.
The United legend did have a good cross in his locker from time to time but his deliveries weren't all that here.

And defensively, he nearly set up Roberto Carlos with a poor backpass and was dribbled past on many an occasion.
United lost 3-2 in the quarter-final, with Raul bagging a quickfire brace for the side who went on to win the Champions League that season.
Neville has gone on record to say it was his worst ever performance in his career, telling the United Stand: “I was going through a terrible period with confidence and felt like I didn’t want the ball. I remember being on the pitch, thinking 'this is a low moment for me'.

“I was 25 and had never felt like that before."
The comments on Neville's outing, were predictably quite brutal.
One user on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: "One of the most overrated players of the generation, wouldn’t get in any prem side nowadays."

A second added: "I'm not sure where Gary Neville ranks in the "Best right backs in PL history" argument. I'm just glad we now have Kyle Walker to nail to that mast."
A third opined: "Bang average player carried by legends around him."
Another said: "Bro is worse than Trent at defending."
A fifth user commented: "This is the man who tells everyone how to play football btw."

A final person summarised: "Got away with loads in them days because of no social media. If he was playing now he would have got as much stick as Harry Maguire."
