Man Utd star Diogo Dalot produces ‘miss of the season’ against West Ham

Manchester United are in action against West Ham United.

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot may have produced the worst miss of the season against West Ham United.

On Sunday afternoon, Erik ten Hag’s men arrived at the London Stadium looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League.

United dominated proceedings in the early stages as West Ham struggled to cope with the pressure applied by the visitors.

With 31 minutes on the clock, Dalot was played through in behind the West Ham defence and managed to get to the ball ahead of goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Despite having the whole goal to aim at, Dalot managed to put the ball high and wide, squandering a huge chance to make it 1-0.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Dalot with the miss of the season .”

Another tweeted: “How has Dalot not scored from here??? , this has to be miss of the season.”

A third fan added: “Diogo Dalot shame on you for fooling people into thinking you were a good football player.”

Someone else wrote: “Don't even start about that miss from Diogo Dalot. Appalling.”

A fifth commented: “First Alejandro Garnacho hit the post and now Diogo Dalot misses an open goal can’t believe it had me stunned.”

Another fan said: “Diogo Dalot really missed an open net vs West Ham.”

Former Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Michael Brown said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “Diogo Dalot had done everything right. He broke the offside trap, lobs it over the top of an on-rushing Lukas Fabianski. West Ham's defenders are running back to the goalmouth in the hope to get something, anything on it and Dalot goes for power and puts it wide of the target.

“It has been a really good first half from a Manchester United point of view. West Ham have had their moments, but United have dominated. They have had plenty of opportunities, slick passing and counter attacks and have hit the woodwork twice. The home fans are just getting a little edgy.”
