Sky release statement after viewers criticise Carabao Cup coverage

Some fans were unable to watch Manchester United's clash against Leicester City.

Sky have released a statement after fans were unable to watch a number of Carabao Cup fourth round fixtures, including Manchester United's clash against Leicester City.

Ruud van Nistelrooy enjoyed a winning start to life as United's interim manager as goals from Casemiro [2], Bruno Fernandes [2] and Alejandro Garnacho sealed a convincing 5-2 win for the Reds.

It was a goalfest at Old Trafford as United sealed their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-final but some viewers were unable to tune in after streaming service Sky Sports Plus stopped working in the early stages.

As a result, a large number of fans took to social media to complain.

One fan said: "What’s happening with the Sky Sports plus app tonight? Nothing working?" while another wrote: "Anyone else struggling to get the game on through Sky? Just coming up technical issue? @SkyHelpTeam."

A third commented: "Anyone else with Sky Stream having trouble accessing the games via Sky Sports +? 'Technical issue'. Just want to watch more RuudBall, that's all I ask."

A fourth wrote: "Anyone else having problems on Sky+ for the Chelsea game, started fine now it’s saying technical issues?" and a fifth added: "Any chance you can sort out the service!? Unable to watch the match on Sky Sports +.. complete joke."

Sky released a statement at 9:03pm to address the situation.

They wrote: "Sky Sports + app. We're aware that some customers are unable to access the Sky Sports + app on Sky Q, Sky Glass & Sky Stream. Support teams are working on resolving this ASAP. All Sky Sports+ content is available on the Sky Sports app. Sorry for any inconvenience caused."
