Antony is on the verge of setting a new record that will never be matched again in football history

The Brazilian winger could make history by achieving a feat that no other player has ever succeeded in.

Manchester United winger Antony could become the first player to set an impressive record that may never again be achieved.

Antony has enjoyed a new lease of life since leaving United in January to join La Liga side Real Betis on a short-term loan until the end of the season.

Since then, the forward has rediscovered the form that led to him joining United back in 2022, scoring eight goals 21 appearances and playing a vital role in Betis' battle for a spot in the Champions League.

And he could be set to make history by setting a football record that could never again be matched by any other player.

On Thursday, United booked their place in an all-English Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur after impressively beating Athletic Club 7-1 across two legs in the semi-finals.

At the same time, Betis earned a hard fought victory over Serie A side Fiorentina as a goal in extra-time secured their spot in the Conference League final, where they will meet Chelsea.

Having played a part in both United and Betis' European campaigns, Antony will therefore earn a winners medal for either, or both, sides should they win their respective finals at the end of the month.

If United and Betis both emerge from their European finals as champions, then Antony will claim the title as the first ever double European champion in the same season, a feat that could never again be achieved.

Several players have won two European trophies throughout their careers, but none have achieved this feat within the same season.

Liverpool pair Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher are just two examples of players to have won both the Europa League and the Champions League, having done so in 2001 and 2005 respectively.

United head into the Europa League final against Spurs at the San Mames stadium in Bilbao as moderate favourites, while Bilbao will look to defy the odds when they face Chelsea in Poland's Stadion Miejski.

The Europa League final will take place on May 21, while the Conference League final will take place one week later on May 28.
