Alejandro Garnacho transfer saga takes shock twist as Fabrizio Romano drops new info on Napoli talks

Alejandro Garnacho transfer saga takes shock twist as Fabrizio Romano drops new info on Napoli talks

Fabrizio has dropped a huge bombshell.

Fabrizio Romano has provided a new update on the future of Alejandro Garnacho with the United winger linked with a move to both Napoli and Chelsea this month.

Garnacho's future has been up in the air since the Argentina international was left out of the squad alongside Marcus Rashford for the Manchester derby last month.

The 20-year-old has managed to work his way back into Ruben Amorim's side, with starts against Arsenal in the FA Cup and Southampton in the Premier League this month.

Napoli have been the frontrunners for Garnacho's signature this month, but according to The Athletic Chelsea have entered the race with Garnacho's agent attending Stamford Bridge on Monday.

The Serie A side are desperate to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on their left-hand side following the Georgian's move to PSG, with Garnacho being their reported number-one target.

However, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update and revealed Napoli have now made contact over a potential Garnacho alternative.

Romano wrote on X: "Napoli have made contact with Borussia Dortmund today for Karim Adeyemi.

"Talks start with BVB open to January exit."

Adeyemi has only started five Bundesliga games so far this season for Dortmund, grabbing two goals in the process.

The Italian reporter also revealed that Napoli haven't given up on a move for the United winger, however, are finding it difficult to negotiate with the Premier League side.

He added: "Negotiations for Alejandro Garnacho are still on but no agreement with Man United after first bid; Chelsea are also weighing up a formal proposal."

United are expected to be open to selling Garnacho this month despite rejecting Napoli's initial approach, with all of United's prized assets available this month as the club battles PSR compliance.

Speaking to TNT, former United midfielder Paul Scholes revealed he isn't against the sale of Garnacho despite the youngster's potential.

"Although he’s young, and there’s more to come, he’s scruffy in his technique at times, and his decision-making at times is really poor," Scholes explained.

"I wouldn’t be worried if they sold him," he added.
