Eredivisie manager set to join Man Utd as Erik ten Hag makes two key changes to backroom staff

Eredivisie manager set to join Man Utd as Erik ten Hag makes two key changes to backroom staff

Erik ten Hag is set to add two new coaches to his backroom staff.

Manchester United are set to recruit an Eredivisie manager to Erik ten Hag's backroom staff ahead of the new season.

INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe decided to stick with Ten Hag as Man United manager following an end-of-season review.

The extensive review came after the Red Devils endured a torrid Premier League campaign, finishing in eighth place.

However, the Dutchman somewhat salvaged last season with an FA Cup triumph over Manchester City to secure his second trophy in as many seasons since his Old Trafford appointment.

Ten Hag is set to sign a new deal at Man United, who are planning to add not one but two additions to his coaching team.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Go Ahead Eagles manager Rene Hake is set to join his fellow countryman at Man United.

Hake, 52, has spent his whole managerial career in the Netherlands, taking charge of the likes of Twente,

Utrecht and, of course, Go Ahead Eagles.

Hake's not the only proposed new addition to Ten Hag's staff as former Man United forward Ruud van Nistelrooy is also expected to be appointed.

Van Nistelrooy, who scored 150 goals during his illustrious spell at the club, had been linked with Burnley's managerial vacancy following the departure of Vincent Kompany, who joined Bayern Munich.

The 47-year-old has only had one previous senior management gig as he managed PSV Eindhoven in the 2022/23 season before walking away from his position with one game remaining of the campaign.

He's set to return to his old side, having enjoyed five seasons at Man United as a player.

Ten Hag's coaching staff at Man United currently consists of Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren, but the impending arrivals of Hake and Van Nistelrooy raises questions over the futures of Van der Gaag and McClaren.
