Man Utd fans are worried one player's Old Trafford career is 'doomed' after Chido Obi-Martin's move from Arsenal

Man Utd fans are worried one player's Old Trafford career is 'doomed' after Chido Obi-Martin's move from Arsenal

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Arsenal’s Chido Obi-Martin.

Manchester United fans are worried about one player’s career as the Red Devils close in on a deal to sign Chido Obi-Martin from Arsenal.

Over the last few weeks, the 16-year-old sensation had been constantly linked with a move to Old Trafford.

On Tuesday night, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano wrote on social media: “EXCLUSIVE: Chido Obi Martin to Man United, here we go! Talented striker leaves Arsenal and he’s just accepted Man Utd proposal.

“Pathway key for Chido who’s turned down higher bids from Germany to sign for Man United. Project convinced 2007 born top talent to accept.”

Reacting to the news, United fans have raised concerns about the future of Ethan Wheatley.

One fan said on social media: “Wheatley career at mufc is doomed for sure.”

Another tweeted: “Let's see how Ethan Wheatley deals with this sudden extra competition.”

A third fan added: “Ethan Wheatley will most likely be sent on loan and Chido will take on third choice striker responsibilities while playing with the academy until needed.”

Someone else wrote: “This leaves the question, what about Ethan Wheatley?”

A fifth commented: “This is actually bad for our promising home grown talents ...

Now it will be so hard to integrate the likes of Ethan Wheatley into the first team, considering they play the same position.”

Another fan said: “All this talk about Chido Obi Martin being the 3rd choice striker, where does Ethan Wheatley fit into this if he starts to perform?”

At the end of the 23/24 season, Wheatley was named as United’s Young Player of The Year and also made his senior debut.

He said: “It’s a great club with a massive history, especially in the Academy as well. It’s just an honour to make my debut. And then that number 250 is just a little extra as well.

“Last season it was a bit stop-start. I didn't really get to develop as much as I wanted. This season I've been able to stay on the pitch and work on using my body, all these little technical bits as well, and I was talking to the coaches before the game. I feel like everything just came into place these last few weeks, and I'm feeling a lot more confident with the way I'm playing.”
