Pep Guardiola's wife Cristina issues blunt statement as she breaks silence over divorce reports

Cristina Serra was approached while shopping alone in Barcelona.

Pep Guardiola's wife, Cristina Serra, has broken her silence following reports the pair are going their separate ways after 30 years together.

Spanish newspaper SPORT reported last week that the couple have agreed to go their separate ways but still have a "cordial, stable and friendly" relationship.

Guardiola has three children with Serra, with the pair being married for 10 years, however, Serra moved back to Barcelona in 2019 to oversee her fashion brand.

Spanish journalist Lorena Vazquez, who broke the news, stated via The Sun: “After Cristina returned to Barcelona from Manchester in 2019 to focus on her business interests, it’s true that the first rumours about her marriage to Pep surfaced, but no-one dared talking about there being a relationship crisis and much less so a split."

The Man City boss was subject to heckles against Brentford, with a supporter commenting on the situation as he arrived to the stadium.

Serra has since broken her silence on the alleged divorce after she was spotted by a reporter while shopping alone in Barcelona.

When asked how she was doing, she smiled and said ‘Perfecta, gracias’ - ‘Perfect, thanks’ in English, as per The Sun.

She added: “Everything’s fine” when quizzed again about her frame of mind.

The couple's eldest daughter Maria has also spoken since the news, however, the 24-year-old didn't comment on the split and instead opened up on her parents’ lessons about love.

“My parents have always advised me to find what I am passionate about," she said in a Spanish magazine interview.

“They encourage me to try new things, to accept failure, and to keep searching until I find my calling, because when I do, full dedication will come naturally.

“They also remind me that the most important thing in life is to love and be loved.”

“In the end, it all comes down to feeling loved," she also told Vanity Fair Spain.

“Even in situations where we feel out of place, they tell me to listen carefully to others, there is always something valuable to learn from each person we meet.”
