However, speaking in the United States for Man City's pre-season tour, he could also see himself prolonging his stay at the Etihad.

Guardiola told Sam Lee: "I have been eight years in Man City and I will not be another eight years. I said I am closer to leaving than leaving but I did not say I am leaving.
"I am not ruling out absolutely that I sign a new contract.
"I want to be sure it’s the right decision not just for me but for the players, if they run no matter the competition, that is what I have to see."
He added:" But I am pretty sure eight more years I will not be here!

"When I decide it’s over first of all I speak to my sporting director and CEO, I wouldn’t do one step without my team knowing it. I wouldn’t want to cause a problem in the way I do it. Start the season, see how everything is going, how connected we are all together again and after we will see."
